Chakra Sprays & Charm Casting | Energy Healer Kate Hammond
Kate Hammond on Chakra Sprays, Charm Casting and Trusting the Path
When Kate Hammond first tried to heal herself, she couldn't get past her own solar plexus. She'd start at the root chakra, work her way up, and somewhere around the third one she'd fall fast asleep — waking half an hour later thinking, I can't even get through my own chakra system; how am I ever going to do this for anyone else?
Years later she realised the obvious thing: the solar plexus is the seat of confidence and personal power. She wasn't failing. She was healing exactly the part of her that needed to grow before she could walk into a classroom of strangers and claim this work.

It Started With a Deck of Cards
Kate Hammond is the founder of Zen Den Healing, and Kebrasca has known her for years — they came up through the Ashati energy training together, both reaching teacher level. What I love about her origin story is how ordinary the first thread was. About a decade ago she bought a deck of oracle cards on a girls' trip — couldn't even tell you why, just knew she had to take them home. For a while it was a party trick, the girls pulling cards to see what the universe had to say. Then she noticed the readings were landing, consistently, with real perspective on what was actually happening in people's lives. That's where her spirituality began to grow.
The turn came at her own energy healing. Her hands were on fire the whole session — tingling, hot — and the practitioner told her that's often a sign you're being called to do this work. She went home, found a course, and immediately hit a wall of fear about walking into a room of people she didn't know, so she signed up for a self-paced one instead and did her healings alone. Nobody arrives fully formed. You follow one small curiosity, then the next, and one day you look up and you've built something whole.
Ashati, Reiki and How Energy Actually Feels
Kate's foundation is Ashati — an in-depth, powerful energy system with symbols, levels, and modalities woven through it (including Reiki and Ascension Reiki), where the longer you train the higher the levels of energy you can access. As Kebrasca put it, the gift of that training wasn't just learning energy, it was learning how different energies feel, how each symbol carries its own strength and character when you use it on a person, an animal, even a plant. The two of them used to meet for lunch after class every Sunday and he'd get total FOMO listening to her downloads from the day.
Two things they're both firm about: it's intention-led, and you have to be a clear vessel. You can't show up drunk, foggy, or carrying someone else's heavy energy and expect to channel cleanly — the practitioner's own state matters as much as the technique.
The Sprays: A Little Bottle of Vibrations
This is the part Kebrasca and I lean right into, because he uses her chakra sprays in his practice almost daily and gives them away constantly. Kate makes each one as, in her words, a little bottle of vibrations: full moon water (cleansed with rather too many moonstone crystals, she admits), specific crystals, essential oils — and then she infuses every single bottle with energy healing using those Ashati symbols, often with meditation music or singing bowls playing so the sound frequency goes in too.
Why scent? Because it works at a cellular level — it bypasses the thinking mind and goes straight to the body, giving what Kate calls a little cellular massage that starts releasing emotional and physical tension. She pointed to research from The Resilience Project suggesting even seven seconds of sound can begin shifting your emotional state; scent is simply another sense to reach through. There's a practical magic to them too: you can cleanse a space without smoke, mist before a hard conversation, keep one in your bag, glide one through airport luggage. Clearing that fits inside an ordinary day. She makes rollers as well, with coconut oil instead of moon water so they go straight on the skin — and yes, there's a "divine masculine" one in the works for the men.
Charm Casting, Live on the Show
Kate's newest tool is charm casting, and she did a live reading for #creativetalk that genuinely made the room go still. It comes out of tasseography — the old art of reading tea leaves — and uses little charms sprinkled across a mat divided into life areas (career, home and family, spirituality, health, social life), where the symbol and the spot it lands both carry meaning. Reading for the podcast, she landed Sagittarius energy on our new direction, a frog mid-leap moving toward career, a dragon sitting right on "spirituality" for the power of the platform, and a cross on "health" for the work of pointing people toward healing. Watching her work the symbols in real time was a reminder of how alive these older practices still are in the right hands.
You Don't Have to Believe — and the Plainest Medicine of All
We asked her the question every sceptic asks: do you have to believe for it to work? Her answer is the same as ours — no. You just have to be open. Open the door and the healing energy is there to receive; some people shift in the moment, others reflect days or weeks later and realise how much moved. And her simplest piece of advice was the one I'd give too: step outside, get your feet on the ground, earth yourself. She has earthing mats on her massage table and her bed, wired to the home's earthing rod, but the free version is just grass under bare feet. For all the crystals and decks and beautiful tools, so much of this work comes home to the plainest things — the same grounding Charles Lowres swears by, shoes off on the earth.
We pulled cards for Zen Den at the end, and they were loud: the Lovers for the old tension between her teaching career and this calling, then the Chariot, the Empress, the Magician — momentum, abundance, and a woman who already has every tool at her fingertips. She's taken long-service leave from teaching to make space for this, she's stepping into mediumship next, and you can feel her moving into a much bigger version of what she's already built.
Some guests you interview. Kate, Kebrasca just got to introduce an old friend to the rest of us.

[03:25] Welcome
Welcome back to Creative Talk, where we blend the worlds of consciousness and commerce. I'm Kebrasca King and I'm Amber King, and we have a very special guest for you later — the wonderful Kate Hammond, here to talk about her modalities, her business, and the beautiful sprays I use in my practice almost every single day.
[04:01] Last week: Joelle Corbett
Last week we had past life regression practitioner and Aquarian healer Joelle Corbett, who's done sessions on both of us over the years. As she talked, vivid memories of lying on that table came back to me — pretty trippy. She came from psychology and moved into the spiritual healing space because she felt it wasn't shifting enough on its own; when the same patterns keep recurring, it can be a sign to go deeper. And she spoke about timelines — that past, present and future have no real separation through conscious connection, because time is a man-made structure. (If I'd made time up, I'd have given myself all the time in the world — and then nothing would get done, just me and the cat watching Young Sherlock.)
[09:09] The healing is never-ending
What I took from Joelle is that the healing is never-ending — the trauma can end, but you keep peeling back layers, going deeper, and just when you think you're healed, another lesson or download arrives. That's part of it; otherwise we'd live a programmed, robotic, boring life.
[11:19] (A call out for cat whisperers)
If there are any cat whisperers or animal communicators out there, message us — our cat Kai has five beds to our one and still sleeps on ours. We'd love to delve into how she thinks.
[12:14] Kate and the Ashati journey
This week is all about Kate Hammond and Zen Den Healing. Kate and I have known each other a long time — we did the Ashati energy course together, both reaching teacher level, and she carried on teaching as well as practising. Ashati is an in-depth, powerful energy practice, similar to Reiki in that there are symbols and a belief system about the energy system and how it interacts with the body, with trauma, with lifting. There are different levels giving access to deeper layers of energy — and within it are modalities like Reiki (you become a Reiki master) and Ascension Reiki. What it taught me most was how different energies and symbols feel when you use them on people, animals or plants. As soon as I learned one symbol I was using it on everything — the cat, Amber, myself.
[16:03] When "woo woo" went mainstream
Over the years, things like meditation, yoga and breath work were considered too "woo woo" for the corporate world or everyday life — you had to be a guru or a weirdo in a van. Now everyone does it; it's far more open and accepted, which I'm really glad about. Each modality helps people in different ways, and you connect to the one meant to help you grow or release.
[16:46] What you can heal with Ashati
I've helped relieve pain in people's bodies, helped people understand how their trauma is connected to pain or to what's happening in their day-to-day lives — because it's a combined body-and-energy system. When I do an energy cleanse, I'll use all the symbols — I blast people. You want an energy healing? I'll give you an energy healing. By the end of the training you can simply call in the energy you want; a lot of it comes down to intention. But as a practitioner you have to be of sound mind, body and energy — clean and clear, not carrying bad energy, your own trauma, or energy from the environment or other people.
[22:19] Welcoming Kate
A viewer, Pro Amateur, commented: "Change the energy I give out to the world and treat everything and everyone in it with a high frequency of love — from strangers to friends, animals to insects." Love that. Everything has energy, everything is buzzing — strip it back to atoms and protons and it's all energy. What we put out is what we get back. Our very special guest, Kate Hammond — founder of Zen Den Healing, energy healer, Reiki practitioner and creator of these beautiful sprays designed to shift energy, clear emotional blocks and support deeper healing. Welcome, Kate! (Thank you so much for inviting me — I was thoroughly enjoying listening to you two.)
[23:09] The spray that travels Australia
Our viewer Jan tuned in last week and absolutely loves the spray I gave her — this energy spray has gone all around Australia with me for Mind Body Spirit; it's the best cleanser. (I love hearing the difference it makes in people's lives and practices.)
[23:41] What started Kate
Everyone has their story. What started yours? It happened about ten years ago when I bought my first deck of cards on a girls' trip — I can't even remember buying them, I just knew I had to take them home. For a while it was a party trick, the girls pulling cards, until I realised how powerful and consistent the advice was. My spirituality grew from there. Then I was drawn to get an energy healing myself; afterward I told the practitioner my hands had been on fire and tingling the whole time, and she said that might be a sign energy healing is something you're called to do.
[25:13] Falling asleep at the solar plexus
I went home to find a course and was hit with fear about walking into a class of strangers, so I signed up for a self-paced one and did my self-healings alone. I'd start at my root chakra, work up — and three chakras in, at my solar plexus, I'd fall asleep and wake half an hour later thinking, I can't even get through my own chakra system, how am I going to do this? By the end of the course I practised on friends and was amazed how much my higher senses had grown. Then I enrolled to come to Melbourne for my masters. Kebrasca, I remember you asking us to reflect for people just starting out — and I realised I'd been stuck at my solar plexus for a reason: I was healing my confidence, empowering myself to go in and have a go.
[27:43] The Sunday lunch FOMO
(Kebrasca:) Every Sunday I'd meet Kate for lunch after class and she'd tell me for hours about everything she'd just learned, the downloads, the attunements — I wanted to do it now. (Kate:) Those attunements with our teacher blew me away — I'd always feel it in my throat chakra and start coughing in the quiet. (That's telling you to use your voice!)
[28:56] Why scent is powerful
Why is scent such a powerful tool for shifting state? It's all about vibrational frequency. When we introduce it into our energy field we get a kind of cellular massage right down at the cell level, and that's when emotional and physical tensions start to release.
[30:09] Inside the sprays
(Amber:) I started with the energy spray, and now I give it away as a free gift; the chakra sprays I use one per energy centre in a balancing. What's the blending process? (Kate:) The idea came to me daydreaming in class — a set of sprays to cleanse, clear and open the chakras, and to help me read in too. It's a little bottle of vibrations: full moon water, chosen for the intention of release and cleansed with far too many moonstone crystals, plus crystals and oils. Once it's made, I infuse every bottle with energy healing using those symbols, and play meditation music or singing bowls so the sound frequency goes in as well. (Amber:) When I use them, the spray itself tells me how to use it on each centre.
[32:54] Smoke-free clearing, and the rollers
I love that you can't always take a candle or smoke into a space — fire alarms, or somewhere you can't light things — so the spray lets you still cleanse, clear and protect, less obtrusively. At Mind Body Spirit, with 12 to 14 people moving through a day, it keeps my little space clear, and it's small enough for luggage. There's a roller too — polarity and a moonstone-magic one — using coconut oil instead of moon water so you can apply it to the skin. (And we need a divine-masculine one for the men — not "muscular," something a man can actually use.)
[35:03] How it works for sceptics
For those who might be sceptical — how does an energy-infused spray work? Our bodies constantly receive energetic information through light, sound and smell and process it without conscious thought. There's great research now — the Resilience Project found even seven seconds of sound and music can start shifting your emotional wellbeing — and scent is just another tool for that. (Amber:) In our work we tune into as many senses as we can — clairvoyance, clairsentience, claircognizance, and clairalience, the clear smelling, which is rarer and a big part of picking up messages.
[37:05] Weaving the modalities together
You work across Reiki, tarot and subconscious healing — do you blend them? I keep collecting spiritual tools and weave them into a practice that's unique to me. Cards especially let people see what I can sense — it's on the table in front of them. I feel like I'm building a puzzle: we'll be talking about self-confidence and then a card flips over saying exactly that. It's magical every time, watching tools that don't obviously relate fit together beautifully.
[39:17] What people come for
What are people coming to you for right now? Mostly the energy healing work — and it's overwhelm and stress from everyday life, often not being able to put into words how they feel. It's beautiful to have someone understand and validate your experience, then give you clarity and direction toward a peaceful place. I love seeing people float out the door lighter than they came in. (Kebrasca:) Some have done psychology and other mental approaches for a long time but don't get the same energetic release — with energy healing, conscious or not, even if they fall asleep, they wake up feeling lighter.
[41:45] Do you have to believe?
Do people have to believe to integrate the healing? It's all about being open. The moment you're open to the conversation, those healing energies are there to receive. People sit with it over days, weeks or months, reflect, and see the shifts in their lives and bodies.
[42:53] Does the shift happen straight away?
It depends on how deep the healing is. Sometimes people sit up and say "I've just had this realisation, it's so clear now," and it slots into place instantly; other times it's only later you look back and realise how completely you shifted in some area. It's different for everybody.
[44:21] Step outside and earth yourself
Is there something people can do at home? Sprays work great — but the best thing is to step outside. Fresh air, connect with nature, ground and earth yourself; those negative ions really impact us physically. If you haven't done a deep dive into earthing, highly recommend it. I have an earthing mat on my massage table and on my bed, connected to the home's earthing rod — a little like lying on the grass; inflammation starts to go down. (Amber:) Earthing or grounding — connecting your energy body to the planet's so it sinks back into balance. We used to live without shoes; now we're removed from it, inside on devices all day. Very important to stay grounded.
[47:03] What's next for Kate
This year's different — in my day job I'm a teacher, and I've taken some long-service leave to create space, which itself took a lot of healing to allow. With Zen Den I'm still loving clients, running meditation classes and subconscious explorations, and I'm feeling really called to dive into my mediumship skills — some lovely workshops and client experiences holding space and sharing messages from loved ones. (Kebrasca:) It's a natural progression — you're so connected anyway. Mediumship is next-level; it really helps with grief and connection.
[49:05] What is charm casting?
A little birdie says you've got a new tool — charm casting. What is it? I saw someone doing it at a local expo and knew I had to have it. You use little charms, similar to oracle cards — all based on symbolism, connected to tasseography, which is tea-leaf reading. You can sprinkle them over tarot cards, open a book and sprinkle them there, or use charm casting mats to drive questions and get answers. I've been really enjoying dabbling in it.
[50:26] Live charm casting for #creativetalk
(Could you do a reading for the podcast?) I'd love to. I asked: what is the current energy for Creative Talk and where are you moving towards? In the centre, around the sun, there's strong Sagittarius energy — the "optimist" charm — and I noticed your post about a new direction landed on a Sagittarius moon day, so new-moon/full-moon Saggy energy is going to get things moving. A little frog mid-leap is moving toward career and business — a leap of faith. In spirituality, a clock just outside the chart (the podcast as a place to get into flow and help others do the same) and a dragon landed right on "spirituality" — a powerful platform of communication and a tool to help others heal. In home and family, a gecko on "family" — positive transformation and adaptability for the Creative Talk family. In leisure and social, a kangaroo (nurturing energy) and peacock ore on "social" (fun and joy — a social space to build connections). In career and business, a car on the castle's foundations — travelling in a new direction, an adventure. A peacock on the heart — attracting new relationships and a successful, proud season. And a cross on "health" — a space to point people toward dealing with pain, endings or illness. Finally I pulled a card for advice from spirit: Higher Senses, landing between the throat and heart chakra — affirming the podcast has the strength, courage and heart to lead where you want, and to use your higher senses to keep guiding you.
[57:42] A thank-you reading for Kate
As a thank-you, we'd love to read for your Zen Den business. (Kate chooses the middle pile; Amber and Kebrasca read together.) Past — the Lovers, the card of choices: that conflict between your passion and "real life," between teaching and this calling, and how to blend the two through you and create from it. Present — the energy is more balanced now that you've taken time off teaching to focus on your own healing and expansion; there's a clear yes to moving forward, because bringing all parts of you together will make you feel much better. With anything new there's the "am I doing the right thing, is this the right time" — that's part of the letting-go; the timing is right for you. Future — so bright: the Empress (abundance, creating a whole new world), the Magician (you already have all the tools — start throwing those charms), and the Eight of Cups with the Chariot (moving forward in the right direction). Allow any self-doubt to come up and pass; this is the year of building and stepping fully into your own, not holding back — and there's more to come as you step into mediumship. (Kate:) It's a reflection of where I started with Zen Den — I went live with my Instagram business page and two days later got a kidney infection, so much fear in my kidneys. Someone gave me the best advice: the universe sends you the clients with the knowledge and skills they need right then; we can always grow, but you're enough in that moment.
[1:09:18] Explaining it to the average person
(A viewer asks how you explain what you do to people who may not believe.) I'm constantly changing my answer! I describe it as a gentle, passive approach — you lie down, mask on, relax, and I do my thing; it tends to resonate in the conversation afterward, and I reassure people they don't have to do any of the thinking. (Kebrasca:) I always say never think your way through this — connect with the feeling. How did you feel walking in, how do you feel now? Nine times out of ten people leave with a different feeling, and that's what hits them first. (Amber:) Get out of your head and into your other senses — the minute you start thinking is the minute it won't work as well. And holding space for others takes a lot of work on yourself first; it's not a two-day weekend course — you have to step into your own uncomfortable places and heal them before you can do it for someone else.
[1:12:28] Closing
Kate, thank you so much for sharing your world — your sprays, your charms and your abilities. We'd love to do it again, and wish you all the best in 2026 and beyond. (Thank you, guys — it's been an absolute pleasure, so much fun.) If you want to check out anything, go to zendenhealing.com — supplies, charm reading or energy healing — and follow her on Instagram. That charm reading blew me away. We'll be back next Thursday at 5pm, with an audio version out tomorrow. Take care, and thanks for tuning in.
